I met Eileen Belastock in 2022 at the Future of Educational Technology Conference (FETC) in 2022. We were sitting in the Press Room of the event and shared our love for learning and educational technology.  Eileen is a recognized edtech authority with clients to answer the increasing critical student safety, data privacy, and cybersecurity questions. In this episode she will share a wealth of books that are a must read. I met Justin Spears at I/ITSEC event in 2023 at the M3D Technologies booth. Justin is the fractional Chief Growth Officer for M3C and he is also the founder of his own consulting firm, MXI Consulting. He served in the Navy for 5 years as an Aerospace Medicine Supervisor. He has a passion for entrepreneurship and spent his college years studying that very topic.  One of the quotes that he shared is “Are you revolutionary or evolutionary?  Wondering what that means? Other areas we covered is how to be a holistic entrepreneur with a realistic expectation of personal professional time management and balance.

I met Matthew Hogan at the 2023 IITSEC annual conference.  He is the founder and CEO of M3D Technologies.  He is a service-disabled #Navy veteran who studied Studio Production and Visual Effects at Full Sail University and The DAVE School in Orlando. Matthew founded and operated several small businesses after leaving the Naval service, and has successfully completed projects for Orlando-area theme parks and the University of Central Florida.
Matthew is an expert in haptic gloves and the ability to feel the virtual world. Taking hardware solutions and programming this equipment so humans can experience something that can be dangerous but in a safe environment. Another example includes rocket launchers that allow regular people to blow something up in a virtual environment.  He believes if people don’t work to understand these new technologies they will be left behind.

I have known Chris Harden through the startup ecosystem in Orlando, Florida. For us in this world, he is a bit of a legend because he appeared on Shark Tank. What landed him there was his role as Co-founder of TROBO. The Storytelling Robot, a connected plush toy that reads stories about #science and #math to children ages 2-5 using iPhones and iPads.  When asked what his five words are that describe him, he shared Dad, husband, grateful, engineer, artistic, and creator.

Tim Lesnick inspires with his take on what 2030 holds for us, who is Omar Atlas, and the value of philanthropy. 
Giving a shout out to Alec Jones - thanks Alec - that he would introduce me to Tim Lesnick who is the co-owner of Trova Search, a nation-wide recruiting and consulting firm. I now understand why since he has over 20 years in the staffing and consulting industry and placed nearly 4,000 professionals on a contract or full-time basis career path.  Tim believes and exemplifies a tenant mindset, called "Read my mind better" which translates to “Great service means mastering the art of anticipation.” I think this would be a great title for a book. 
 
According to research by researchers at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), the University of Bamberg, and The Ohio State University objective was to find out whether consciously deciding to have a certain posture can influence a person’s confidence, behavior, and hormone levels. Remember the pose that #Superman or #WonderWoman do?  Hands on your hips, feet spread slightly apart, with shoulders back and chest out Tim is a really fun guy and when challenged to join in on power posing he shared another person that had a great power pose, Omar Atlas. Omar was a wrestler that also captured his audience’s attention and favor with his power poses. Be sure to check out Tim channeling Omar Atlas’ power pose for a laugh. Tim’s thoughts? The pose seems awkward except for when doing this with his kids. No judgments, just fun. 
 
Tim’s mentoring advice is spot on because it is a challenge for all of us. 
1) Be willing to dig ditches because a lot of people try to take short cuts.
2) People need experience and don’t know enough about business and put together what they learn in school and it hasn’t been built on experience. And
3) Give value to more than yourself by giving to others - volunteer and give back through philanthropy work.

Sean Pinnock, the CEO of Avalon, which is a human centric game studio, was my guest on The Intern Whisperer. When he was a child, he envisioned the future of games. His inspiration came from Ready Player One - which is a book by Ernest Cline that later became a movie. This shaped his thinking of what the world - Meta - could be as a VR experience.
When sharing his mentoring advice, he reminds us to learn and be content with who you are today; the second piece of advice is to be determined. Determination will take you further in your life journey.

S7 Ep. 283 Kristin Chase   Kristin Chase - Keeping balance between humans and demand for efficiency. Kristin Chase is the Intern Whisperer first guest for 2024. She is an amazing organizational development expert that I have known for a while. She is the Sr. Director of the Organizational Development (OD) department for Universal Destinations & Experiences. One of the co-founders of the Greater Orlando Organizational Development Network a/k/a The GOOD Network and has a wealth of experience in every area of OD in the workplace.   
When asked what 2030 will look like she shared, “There will be a focus on efficiency and optimal use of labor. There is not as much labor available that are able, willing or want to fill jobs that need  to be filled.  There will be some effort that we need to have deeper interactions with people and where can we use a robot. If it is a systematic way should automation be the solution. This is where OD comes in, what is the work that needs to be done.
The idea of reskilling is where OD supports how and where people can fit in. What do we do with this new information about people's work in the future? People need to remember that personal connection is primary and what we change is the way we work as in efficiency of repetitive tasks that need to scale.
